# State Pre-College Enrichment Program (S-PREP)

S-PREP is a free high school and college preparatory program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center for students in grades 7-12 who are interested in medicine and related STEM fields. Funded through New York State's Science and Technology Entry Program, it aims to increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students entering mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields, and the licensed professions.

## What You'll Do

- Attend the Summer Session, with classes Monday through Friday (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.) throughout July
- Continue in the Academic Year session with Saturday classes (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) from October to May
- Study subjects including anatomy, biochemistry, chemistry, organic chemistry, brain and cognitive science, physics, psychology, and math from algebra through calculus
- Take PSAT/SAT preparation courses, join college-prep and career workshops, and go on college tours and field trips

Students in grades 7-12 who are New York State residents and are either economically disadvantaged or from groups historically underrepresented in medicine and STEM (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Alaska Native, or American Indian).
