# Teen Writing Project

The Teen Writing Project is the Loft Literary Center's semester-long advanced creative writing class for teens ages 15-18 who are serious about their fiction. The fall 2026 Minneapolis edition meets weekly on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., September 17 through December 10, in the Loft's classrooms at Open Book, the Minneapolis literary arts building the Loft shares with Milkweed Editions and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

## What You'll Do

- Workshop your novel-in-progress or short stories with a cohort of committed teen writers across 12 weekly sessions
- Study craft techniques through discussion of published authors' work
- Give and receive structured peer feedback on manuscripts
- Learn from Loft teaching artists, many of them award-winning published writers
- Optionally submit a writing sample (1,000 words or less) in advance for instructor review

## Who Should Apply

Writers ages 15-18 who are already working on a novel or short stories and want to take their fiction to the next level. There is no application or requirement to submit work in advance. Tuition for the fall 2026 semester is $444, with installment plans available and Access Fund seats reserved in every Loft class.

## Outcomes

Participants leave with substantially revised manuscript pages, sharpened workshop and critique skills, and a peer community of serious young writers; Loft youth programs also publish student work in an annual Young Writers Anthology.
