## About this program

Maine State Science Fair gives Maine high-school students a chance to conduct original science or engineering research and present it to STEM professionals. JAX and Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance organize the April 3, 2027 fair. Students in grades 9-12 attending school or homeschooling in Maine may enter, subject to the complete research and safety rules. Students must not be 20 on or before the following May 1.

The 2026-27 rules give October 13 registration opening, January 18 registration/parent-permission and review milestones, and March 1 abstract submission. Registration is through STEM Wizard; the portal is still closed before its planned opening. Adult sponsorship, parent permission for minors, project limits and approval before certain experiments are important. Document AI use. The official rules contain conflicting electrical-access and acknowledgment-display instructions, so ask the fair team which governs. The nearly $1 million scholarship total belongs to 2026.
