## About this program

# ClimaTeens

ClimaTeens is the New England Aquarium's climate-action cohort for teenagers. Participants come from different backgrounds but share an interest in combating climate change, meeting twice monthly - once at the Aquarium on Central Wharf and once online - to learn the science and then act on it in their own communities.

## What You'll Do

- Study climate change mitigation topics, including climate science and community organizing
- Practice communication strategies for talking about climate change with different audiences
- Develop and execute group projects that bring climate education into Boston-area communities
- Present at local summits, fairs, and partner events alongside Aquarium staff
- Collaborate with partner organizations - past projects were built with ZUMIX and the Institute of Contemporary Art

## Who Should Apply

Teens 13 and up who are concerned about ocean and climate issues, excited to learn as part of a group, willing to read about ocean and climate impacts, and ready to work independently when asked. Applications are posted on the Aquarium's website; teens can apply in late August for the next cohort.

## Outcomes

Past ClimaTeens have produced a composting tabletop activity facilitated at local summits and fairs, a song about climate change and communities written with ZUMIX, and collaborative climate artwork with the Institute of Contemporary Art. Alumni join the Aquarium's teen network for continued youth development and career opportunities.
