# Student Historian Internship Program

Student Historians are high-school-aged interns at The New York Historical (formerly the New-York Historical Society), New York's oldest museum. Using the institution's museum and library collections, interns conduct in-depth research and share their scholarship through creative digital projects that serve as public educational resources. The 2026-27 cohort explores the theme Our Composite Nation: Frederick Douglass' America.

## What You'll Do

- Meet Wednesdays 4:30-7:00 pm from October 28, 2026 to June 16, 2027 (excluding NYC school recesses)
- Conduct research with museum objects and library collections
- Meet professional staff across museum, library, digital humanities, and history fields
- Collaborate with peers to produce digital public-history projects
- Develop historical thinking, communication, and digital media skills

## Who Should Apply

Students entering grades 10, 11, or 12 who live in and attend school in the New York City metro area (the five boroughs plus nearby New York State, Connecticut, and New Jersey).
