## About this program

The Student Astronaut Challenge is an aerospace-related STEM competition for secondary students in grades 6-12, run by an all-volunteer staff with sponsors that include the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the Florida Engineering Foundation. Teams of six take a qualifying test, and the top teams in each division compete in a four-part final held annually at the Kennedy Space Center.

Students in grades 6-12 on a school team with an adult coach. Teams choose the Apollo Division (advanced) or the Mercury Division (beginner to intermediate), and only one team per school competes in the finals. For the 2027 season, registration closed September 4 and the qualifying test was September 9; the Mercury Division competition is February 1-3 and the Apollo Division competition February 4-6.
