What Is Fermilab Saturday Morning Physics?
Saturday Morning Physics (SMP) is Fermilab's free series of 11 Saturday lectures, tours and question sessions for high-school students. The Fall 2026 course covers modern research including particle physics and quantum computing and meets September 12-November 21, 9 a.m.-noon Central Time. Most sessions are at Wilson Hall in Batavia, Illinois; three lectures are off-site, with locations to be sent to participants.
Students in grades 9-12 from public, private and parochial schools, plus home-schooled students with high-school standing, may apply. No science background is required. A prior physics class and roughly two years of algebra are helpful but explicitly optional.
