# Math Kangaroo USA Math Kangaroo is an international mathematics competition for students in grades K-12, run in the United States since 1998 by Math Kangaroo in USA, NFP. Unlike elimination-style olympiads, every registered student takes the test - a set of playful multiple-choice problems that reward logical reasoning over memorized formulas - at a registered center or online each March. The 2026 edition drew 60,504 participants across 1,682 centers in all 50 states. ## What You'll Do - Register at any listed center (or an online option) during the enrollment window, September 15 through December 31 - Practice with sample questions and past booklets organized by grade band, including grades 5-6 and 7-8 - Sit the annual competition in March at your own school grade level - Earn national and state awards, medals, and prizes based on your ranking ## Who Should Apply Any US student in grades K-12; middle schoolers compete at levels 6, 7, and 8, and participation below your actual grade level is not allowed. It is a strong fit for students who enjoy puzzles but are not ready for proof-based competitions. ## Outcomes Students get a low-pressure introduction to competitive math, a national percentile ranking, and a shot at awards.
