# Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS) MOEMS is a nonprofit math olympiad program founded in 1979 that now reaches over 120,000 students a year worldwide. Rather than a single test day, teams take five short contests spread across the school year - for 2026-27, monthly windows run from November 9, 2026 through late March 2027 - each built around creative problem solving instead of routine computation. Middle schoolers compete in Division M (grades 6-8), while Division E serves grades 4-6. ## What You'll Do - Join (or ask a teacher to start) a school or homeschool team of up to 35 students - Meet regularly to learn problem-solving strategies with your team's Person-In-Charge-of-Olympiad (PICO) - Take five monthly Olympiad contests between November and March, administered by your team leader - Earn certificates, patches, medals, and trophies based on individual and team scores ## Who Should Apply Students in grades 4-8 who like puzzles and want regular, season-long competition rather than one high-stakes test. Middle school students in grades 6-8 should look for a Division M team; schools without a team can enroll one online. ## Outcomes Participants build flexible problem-solving habits that feed directly into MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, and high school competition math. Enrollment is per team: $175 early bird (by July 31, 2026), $200 standard (by October 15, 2026), with late tiers after that, so the per-student cost through a school is typically small.
