What Is Biodesign Challenge?
Biodesign Challenge (BDC) is an international classroom education program and competition at the intersection of biotechnology, art, and design. It is open to high-school classrooms and college classrooms through the master's level. This is not a direct application for an individual high-school student: an instructor or institution registers a classroom, and each separately entered classroom pays its own fee.
BDC 2027 registration is open. The current price starts at $1,400 per classroom, and the exact early-registration deadline is September 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. An optional bundle with BDC's retrospective book adds $50. The classroom fee gives the instructor access to BDC's online curriculum library, webinars, expert-consultant mentorship, project-development resources, prize consideration, and one presentation slot at the culminating BDC Summit in New York City.
