Editorial Methodology

How we collect, verify, and update the opportunities listed on ExtracurricularHub.

How we collect opportunities

  • Editorial research: our team identifies established programs run by accredited universities, recognized nonprofits, research labs, government bodies, and reputable companies.
  • Direct submissions: organizations can submit programs through our submission form. Every submission is reviewed before publishing.
  • Student and educator suggestions: students, teachers, and counselors can suggest programs they have personal experience with by emailing our editorial team.

How we verify listings

  • The program is run by a real, identifiable organization with a working official website.
  • The program is genuinely open to high school students.
  • The deadline, eligibility, location, format, and cost reflect what is stated on the program's official page.
  • The application link points directly to the program's official application page — not a third-party aggregator.

How often we update listings

  • Each listing carries a "last updated" date that reflects the most recent verification.
  • Time-sensitive fields (deadlines, application status) are reviewed at least once per application cycle for the program's category.
  • Past deadlines are automatically rolled forward when programs run on consistent annual cycles, and flagged for editorial review when they do not.
  • Discontinued programs are marked expired rather than deleted, so historical references and links remain stable.

Always verify on the official program page

Program details change throughout the year. Before applying or making travel, financial, or commitment decisions, students should always verify the current deadline, cost, eligibility, and application requirements on the program's official website. Each listing on ExtracurricularHub links directly to the official program page.

Reporting an issue or submitting a correction

If you find a listing with outdated information, a broken link, or details that don't match the official program page, email team@extracurricularhub.com with the listing URL and the change you'd like reviewed.

What we don't do

  • We don't accept payment in exchange for being listed.
  • We don't rank or feature programs based on advertising relationships.
  • We don't share students' personal data with the programs they view or save.
  • We don't republish program descriptions verbatim; summaries are written editorially.
