What Is Distinguished Young Women?
Distinguished Young Women is a free scholarship, leadership, talent, and personal-development program operating in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Young women participate in junior or senior year depending on their local or state calendar. Where local programs exist, a participant begins locally or through an at-large route; local representatives advance to state, and each state or district representative advances to National Finals.
There is no universal national application deadline. Current Class of 2027 status varies by residence: some programs are still open, some are already closed, and some now accept only Class of 2028 and later. Applicants must consult their official state/local page. It costs nothing to enter.
