What Is Major League Hacking Member Event Hackathons?
Major League Hacking (MLH) supports and lists independently organized student hackathons; it is not one universal high-school program. MLH says its network includes more than 1,000 events annually. The current 2027 season runs July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027 and includes both in-person and digital events on a rolling schedule. Students must open an individual event listing and verify its organizer, dates, location or platform, registration status, eligibility, age/minor requirements, capacity, team rules, prizes, and travel arrangements. Only events explicitly marked HIGH SCHOOL should be treated as high-school-focused; many college-hosted events may restrict or exclude high-school participants.
Current MLH Member Event Guidelines require member events to be free to attend and generally run for 24-48 hours over a weekend. Events must provide meals and follow the MLH Code of Conduct, but transportation, housing, hardware, accessibility, workshops, mentors, prize amounts, and detailed schedules remain event-specific. Registration normally gathers identity and contact information, age, school, country, level of study, and required consents. MLH's standard rules require hackathon work to be created during the event, require public code for prize eligibility, allow AI tools when their use is disclosed, and culminate in a project demonstration; organizers may publish modified event rules.
