What Is Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition?
Fischoff is an annual international competition for instrumental chamber ensembles of three to six musicians. Applicants submit as an ensemble and, if selected, travel to South Bend for live quarterfinal, semifinal, and final rounds at the University of Notre Dame. The Junior Division is for musicians age 18 and under—not grades 9-12—and the separate Senior Division serves collegiate musicians and young professionals.
The 2026 Junior String and Wind divisions awarded USD 2,500 gold, USD 2,000 silver, and USD 1,500 bronze medals, with additional conditional ensemble/local prizes and a From the Top opportunity for junior gold medalists. The 2026 cycle opened December 15, 2025, closed February 18, 2026 at 11:59 p.m., and competed May 8-10. Fischoff has not announced 2027 dates, fees, rules, repertoire, recording specifications, live-round travel support, or prize schedule. Remove the unsupported USD 75 fee and projected February 18, 2027 deadline.
