What Is The Met High School Summer Internship Program?
The Met's High School Internship Program is a paid, in-person summer opportunity at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The completed 2026 cohort served students in grades 10 and 11, plus students obtaining a High School Equivalency, who both lived in and attended a high school or home school in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut on the application deadline. Grade 12 was not eligible under the published 2026 rules.
Interns connect individually and in small cohorts with museum professionals in areas such as curatorial work, social media, education, imaging and design. No prior art or art-history knowledge is required. The mandatory 2026 sequence included a family reception, daylong bootcamp, a 40-hour departmental placement scheduled at roughly 10-20 hours per week, two Teen Fridays, biweekly cohort check-ins and a final celebration.
