What Is Horatio Alger Undergraduate Scholarship?
The Horatio Alger Association administers more than 70 undergraduate scholarship programs. A single application considers a student for all programs for which the student is eligible, except where a specialized application is required. The current National Scholarship is for high-school juniors in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. and provides 105 awards of $25,000. Named senior, state, and institution-specific opportunities publish different award amounts, locations, GPA floors, majors, and college restrictions.
Common selection themes include financial need, a record of overcoming adversity, integrity, service, and academic progress. Published recurring application periods are December 1–March 1 for juniors and December 1–February 15 for seniors, but the portal does not attach a future year to those dates. There is no application fee.
