What Is NYSCI Explainer Program?
Explainers engage visitors at the New York Hall of Science in Queens through STEM conversations, demonstrations and design activities. The museum’s Science Career Ladder combines education, professional development and employment for New York City residents enrolled in high school or college in New York City.
High-school participants make a full-year commitment, including summer, and work at least five weekend hours weekly; college participants have a separate minimum ten-hour weekday commitment. All orientation sessions are required, and extra holiday or vacation shifts may be expected. The official page says fall hiring is closed and asks applicants to check back in December. Its April 1–May 1 and December 1–January 2 windows do not name a year, so they are not exact new-cycle cutoff dates. Current pay, trainee compensation and selection details are not stated; an interest form is not a job offer.
