What Is AOPA Foundation You Can Fly High School?
This is AOPA Foundation's national high-school award for earning a Private Pilot Certificate. The current award heading publishes at least 90 scholarships of $12,000 each. Applicants must be current high-school students ages 16-18, have at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA, pass the FAA Private Pilot written knowledge exam before submitting, hold current AOPA membership, and live in an eligible U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction. Complimentary AOPA membership is available to high-school students.
The Fall 2026 application route is open. Applications and every required reference and document close December 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern (January 1, 2027 at 04:59 UTC). The current official sources supersede the earlier December 30 conflict. The spring policy publishes recurring month/day rules without an explicit 2027 label; no new Spring 2027 cutoff is certified. Award notification is expected by April 15, not a later application deadline.
