What Is Camp Invention Leaders-in-Training?
Leaders-in-Training (LIT) is the National Inventors Hall of Fame's paid, weeklong Camp Invention leadership program for students entering grades 7-9. At nearly 800 local sites nationwide, LITs act as age-appropriate role models: they help Program Team Members guide K-6 campers through hands-on invention and STEM challenges while practicing communication, collaboration, confidence, and goal setting.
Participants complete pre-camp orientation videos, check in with a Program Team Leader each day, review activities before campers arrive, encourage creative problem solving, and reflect on improvements at day's end. This is distinct from the separate Leadership Intern program for older students, which may advertise volunteer hours.
