Kroka Summer Expeditions

# Kroka Summer Expeditions Kroka Expeditions is a nonprofit wilderness expedition school based on a year-round organic farm in Marlow, New Hampshire. Its summer program runs one- to four-week expedition and basecamp courses for youth ages 9-18, deliberately capped at small group sizes so that every student takes a real share of the planning, cooking, navigation, and decision-making. Expedition categories include introductory programs, whitewater paddling, climbing and caving, mountain biking, ocean expeditions, rites of passage, wilderness skills, and multi-element expeditions. ## What You'll Do - Travel by canoe, kayak, foot, or bike on a small-group expedition based out of the Marlow farm - Learn wilderness skills - shelter, fire, navigation, food preparation, and gear repair - Share cooking, route planning, and daily leadership rotations with your group - Work on the organic farm that anchors Kroka's basecamp - Move toward Kroka's longer semester journeys, which serve older students on multi-month expeditions ## Who Should Apply Summer expeditions are open to youth ages 9-18, with courses grouped by age and experience level. Students register directly with Kroka rather than through a school. Kroka states that it "is committed to making sure that all students who wish to come can do so, regardless of ability to pay," and offers scholarships and personalized payment plans. ## Outcomes Participants finish with genuine backcountry competence, experience carrying leadership responsibility in a tiny group, and a route into Kroka's semester programs, whose curriculum is accredited through Sterling College for college credit.
