What Is Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC)?
The Canadian Mathematical Society's COMC is a worldwide, open paper competition built around 12 proof- and problem-solving questions. Every grade receives the same 150-minute exam: four introductory, four intermediate, and four advanced problems for 80 points. English and French versions are available, and calculators and electronic devices are prohibited.
The 2026 Americas sitting is October 29, with other time zones writing October 30. Most registrations are placed by schools beginning September 1; limited independent places at partner-university Open Writing Centres are expected around September 16. School fees range from CAD 30–35 per Canadian exam and USD 35–40 in the United States, subject to order minimums.
