What Is CCS Precollege Summer Experience?
College for Creative Studies' Precollege Summer Experience is a three-week, in-person Detroit studio program for high school artists and designers. Participants choose one concentration—such as animation, character design, drawing and illustration, film and photography, fashion, painting/ceramics/metals, product design, or transportation design—and spend the program creating college-level work with CCS faculty and industry professionals. Students earn 3.0 college credits, receive critique and admissions feedback, develop portfolio pieces, and present work in a final exhibition.
The 2026 session ran July 12-31 and is complete. CCS has not yet announced or opened a 2027 session. For 2026, resident tuition was $3,995 and included room, board, a full meal plan, most materials, activities, college credit, and studio time. Commuter tuition was $3,645 and included half board, most materials, activities, credit, and studio time. Families could expect another $50-$75 for concentration-specific supplies. A $300 minimum deposit reserved a seat.
