What Is Chicago International Model United Nations?
CIMUN XXIII is a four-day, in-person Model United Nations conference for high-school delegates at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, December 3-6, 2026. It is operated by the Institute for Diplomacy Education and Advocacy. The live site is accepting registrations. Schools register delegations and faculty advisors; the official pages do not advertise a stand-alone individual-delegate application.
The entire 2026 simulation is set in 1989, with an official simulation start date of January 22, 1989. Delegates represent countries or officials across UN bodies, regional organizations, courts, alliances, national cabinets, crisis committees, and the CIMUN Chronicle. Committees are integrated: decisions, crises, media reports, negotiations, and country-team strategy can affect other rooms in real time. This is more than prepared speeches; participants research historical positions, write and negotiate policy, respond to evolving developments, collaborate across a delegation, and adapt under pressure.
