What Is NCF-Envirothon?
NCF-Envirothon is a multilevel environmental and natural-resource competition. Teams of five students, guided by an adult advisor, begin with their local member program and can advance through state, provincial, or partner-nation competitions. The first-place team from each participating jurisdiction is eligible for the six-day international event. Published international eligibility is grades 9-12 or ages 14-19, but local programs can impose narrower rules.
Teams study and are tested in aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, wildlife, and an annual current environmental issue. The international competition combines five station-based tests with an oral presentation. The 2027 NCF-Envirothon is July 25-31, 2027 at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, with the issue “Soil Health Management: Agricultural Principles and Stewardship.” Organizers are still finalizing details.
