What Is Go For Launch!?
Higher Orbits' Go For Launch! is an in-person, multiday, non-overnight program that uses human spaceflight to build STEM/STEAM, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. Students work with an astronaut throughout the event, complete team challenges, define and design a space experiment, and pitch it to a panel of space and STEM judges. Each event chooses a team winner; those teams compete within a series, and the series winner—not automatically every event winner—has its experiment launched to space. The destination depends on the series and may be the International Space Station or a suborbital flight.
As of August 2026, Higher Orbits lists three upcoming two-day events for grades 8-12: Denver/Watkins, Colorado on September 26-27; Midland, Texas on October 6-7; and Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 7-8. Each runs 8 a.m.-6 p.m. both days and requires full attendance. Denver is pay-what-you-can from $25 to the $350 standard cost; Albuquerque is $25; Midland's current page does not state a fee or final venue address. All three list supplies, lunch, snacks, a T-shirt, mission patch, and swag as included. Registration links are live, but no closing deadline or seat inventory is published.
