What Is Kentucky Science & Engineering Fair (KY-SEF)?

The Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair is an ISEF-affiliated state competition for students in grades 5-12 at Kentucky schools, including homeschool students, who are under 20 on April 1. Qualifying routes include regional placements, at-large entries and the stated Amazon Innovation Award route.

The March 27-28, 2026 fair at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond is historical; 2027 dates are not announced. Standing rules list a nonrefundable $15 fee per student, including each team member, but do not label it a 2027 price. Students submit one project and follow ISEF research approval, display and safety rules. The discontinued northern Kentucky regional fair is distinct from this statewide fair.
