What Is University of Utah Science & Engineering Fair?

The University of Utah Science & Engineering Fair serves students in grades 5–12 within its designated school-district and associated school boundaries. Students normally qualify through a school or district fair; schools without a fair should contact the director. Senior-division projects need early registration and scientific-review paperwork before research, then final updates after qualification.

The 2027 homepage lists registration opening January 18 and closing February 10, judging March 8–11 and awards March 12. The student page separately requires qualified-project final updates by February 12. Its registration-closed banner and $30 fee schedule refer to older or unclear cycles, including 2024–25 text; they do not establish the 2027 price or current portal status. Individual and two- or three-student projects must follow the required forms, notebook, research and display rules. Confirm the applicable boundary, current fee and project-specific approval process.
