What Is Palm Springs International ShortFest?
ShortFest is a seven-day competitive festival and industry gathering for short-form cinema. Selected films screen in Palm Springs, while filmmakers and audiences can join Q&As, panels, classes, roundtables and networking through the ShortFest Forum. The festival is Academy Award, BAFTA and Goya qualifying, but submitting or being selected does not guarantee an award, distribution or career outcome.
The 2027 submission window opens September 1, 2026. Student-film entries cost $45 by the November 1 earlybird deadline, $55 by December 31, or $65 by the February 7, 2027 late deadline. Films must have been completed in 2026 or 2027, run no more than exactly 40 minutes including credits, include an online screener, be available as DCP if selected and have English subtitles when not in English. No is required.
