What Is Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers?
The Kenyon Review's free annual prize is strictly for current high-school sophomores and juniors. Each entrant submits one original, unpublished poem through Submittable and may not simultaneously submit that poem elsewhere. Entries are accepted every year from November 1 through November 30.
The winning poem and runners-up appear in The Kenyon Review. The winner also receives a full scholarship to a Kenyon Review Young Writers workshop; a prior residential attendee uses the award for a Summer Online or Winter Online workshop instead. The page has not yet published an exact time or announcement date for the upcoming 2026 submission window, so the completed 2025 cycle's 11:59 p.m. time and March 2026 results date are not carried forward.
