# PrepareRI High School Internship Program The PrepareRI High School Internship Program is a rigorous seven-week, work-based learning experience that places Rhode Island public high school juniors in paid summer internships with employers across the state. Operated by Skills for Rhode Island's Future as part of the statewide PrepareRI initiative, the program combines professional-skills training with real on-the-job experience — and interns earn $17.00 per hour, up to $4,700 for the summer. ## What You'll Do - Complete a paid 40-hour work-readiness bootcamp (June 22-26, 2026) covering workplace skills and career exploration - Work a minimum of 150 hours over six weeks (July 6 - August 14, 2026) at a Rhode Island employer in industries from healthcare to tech to government - Build relationships with adult mentors and professional networks - Practice resume, communication, and interview skills that carry into college and career ## Who Should Apply Current juniors at Rhode Island public high schools, public charter schools, or home schools who are RI residents, at least 16 years old, and eligible to work in the U.S. Applications for each summer are submitted in the winter of junior year. ## Outcomes Interns finish with a paid professional credential for their resume, up to $4,700 in earnings, an employer reference, and a clearer picture of career pathways in Rhode Island.
