What Is Genesys Works High School Internship Program?

Genesys Works is a partner-school career pathway for high-school juniors in nine U.S. markets. Students apply during junior year, complete an interview if advanced, and may be admitted to eight weeks and 160 hours of Summer Skills Training in technical and professional skills. Admission to training does not guarantee an internship: students earn the opportunity through training performance, and Genesys Works matches qualified students with an employer based on skills, company needs and transportation.

Placed students work about 20 hours per week during senior year, commonly four afternoon hours each school day, while taking a reduced school course load. Genesys Works advertises $10,000-$13,000 in possible earnings, though its own FAQ states $10,000-$12,000; actual wages, hours, taxes and placement length must be confirmed locally. Students must be authorized to work in the United States and arrange transportation. School credit varies by partner school.
