Science Week Ireland Student Activities

Organization: Science Foundation Ireland

Program Overview

A national week-long celebration of science in Ireland with school competitions, events, and activities for students and the public.

Science Week Ireland is a nationwide annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) coordinated by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). Over the course of a week each November, schools, libraries, universities, community groups and science centres across Ireland host talks, workshops, demonstrations, festivals and interactive activities. While Science Week is not a single, centralised competition, many partner organisations and local event providers run science-themed competitions, quizzes, project challenges and poster or video contests specifically for primary and secondary students as part of the programme. Participation is typically free and open to schools and youth groups across Ireland, giving students opportunities to explore STEM topics, meet scientists, and showcase their creativity and scientific thinking. Taking part in Science Week activities can help students deepen their interest in science, discover STEM career paths and develop skills in inquiry, communication and teamwork. Teachers can register their classes for events and competitions advertised through the Science Week website and regional partner organisations.
