What Is Leadership in the Business World (LBW)?
Wharton Global Youth's LBW is a selective, three-week residential program in Philadelphia for students currently in grade 11 who will be rising seniors. Applicants should demonstrate leadership experience and academic excellence, including an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5. International applicants are welcome. Wharton reports selecting approximately 120 students per session from substantially more applicants than available places.
Students study leadership, management, organizational strategy, negotiation, customer centricity, and business models through lectures, Wharton speakers, recitations, debates, simulations, small-group work, company analysis, and a capstone case competition. A typical weekday runs 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; supervised evening and weekend activities, excursions, and possible site visits extend the residential experience. Completers earn a Wharton Global Youth Certificate of Completion and digital badge—not Penn admission or college credit.
