What Is YCAS Young Scholars Summer Program?

Biostatisticians at the Yale Center for Analytical Sciences (YCAS) design research studies and use statistical methods to address problems in medicine and public health. The Young Scholars program is an intensive 12-day day program that introduces high school students to that work at the Yale School of Public Health in New Haven.

Rising 11th and 12th graders (preference goes to rising seniors) with strong math skills and an interest in statistics, programming and medical research. The program recommends some programming experience (for example Java, C++, R or Python) and asks each student to bring a laptop. It is a day program: students need their own transportation, and families of students who are not Connecticut residents must confirm a local address and parental supervision.
