What Is MIT Women's Technology Program — Mechanical?
WTP-ME is a rigorous four-week residential engineering program at MIT for current 11th graders who excel in mathematics and science but have little or no prior engineering experience. Graduate-student instructors and undergraduate residential tutors use classes, labs, collaborative problem solving and team projects to introduce material modeled on MIT mechanical-engineering coursework. WTP is a women-focused community that especially seeks students underserved in engineering, while stating that applications are reviewed equitably.
This is not a research internship and is independent of MIT undergraduate admission. The 2027 WTP-ME program runs June 26-July 24. The student application opens October 16, 2026 and closes December 21, 2026. Teacher evaluation forms are requested by December 23; late forms are accepted through January 20, 2027. No exact submission clock or timezone is published. The teacher dates do not extend the student application deadline.
