BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
Organization: BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition Ltd.
Program Overview
Ireland’s premier STEM competition where second-level students present original science and technology projects.
The **BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE)** is a long-running STEM competition and showcase for second-level students in Ireland. Each year, students submit original projects in areas such as biological and ecological sciences, chemical, physical and mathematical sciences, social and behavioural sciences, and technology. Selected projects are exhibited and judged at a multi‑day event held in Dublin, which also features shows, talks, and industry exhibits. The competition is open to students attending second‑level schools in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, working individually or in groups (typically up to three students) under the guidance of a teacher. Participating offers students the chance to develop research and engineering skills, present their work to expert judges and the public, and compete for awards including category prizes and the overall Young Scientist of the Year, whose winners often go on to represent Ireland at international science fairs.
