What Is Academic WorldQuest?
Academic WorldQuest is a U.S. high-school team competition on current international politics, geography, economics, history, and cultures. Students compete in teams of four, study ten annual topics using WACA's official guide, and enter through a participating local World Affairs Council. Local winners are registered by their Council for the national DC Experience in Washington, D.C.
The 2027 national event is scheduled for April 12-13, 2027. The new study guide and local-Council registration form are due in September 2026, the timeline in November, and national winning-team registration in January 2027. Local contest dates, school entry rules, fees, eligibility, and travel support vary by Council and are not a single national student application.
