# Minnesota House High School Page Program Since 1975, Minnesota juniors have traveled to Saint Paul to spend a week inside the House of Representatives. The program is a structured civics week rather than a clerical placement: pages serve on the chamber floor but also sit down with the legislators, judges, lobbyists, and reporters who make the Capitol work. ## What You'll Do - Serve as a page in the House chamber, observing and participating in floor proceedings - Meet one-on-one with the Representative from your own district - Run a mock committee meeting to see how legislators actually debate policy - Meet with legislative leaders, constitutional officers, judges, lobbyists, and Capitol press - Keep a full schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday; 8:00am-6:30pm Tuesday; 8:00am-12:30pm Friday ## Who Should Apply Minnesota high school students in their junior year. Participants are selected in the fall through a formal process that includes an application, a faculty recommendation, and an essay, so juniors should start assembling materials early in the school year. ## Outcomes The House pays for lodging at the designated hotel and provides a small stipend to defray meal costs; other expenses are the participant's responsibility. Pages leave with a week of direct access to Minnesota's legislative and judicial leadership and a firsthand account of a session week that few classroom programs can match.
