What Is ASC Theatre Camp?
ASC Theatre Camp is a selective three-week residential theater intensive in Staunton, Virginia. Campers live with residential staff in Mary Baldwin University's Tyson Hall, train with American Shakespeare Center and visiting theater practitioners, rehearse at university and ASC spaces, attend Blackfriars performances, and mount Shakespeare productions for a public final festival. First-time performers and experienced actors were both invited to apply.
The single published 2026 session ran June 24-July 16. Campers auditioned on the first full day for Twelfth Night or Antony & Cleopatra and for a mid-session showcase. Daily schedules could run from a 7:30 a.m. wake-up through 11 p.m. lights-out, with yoga, meals, rehearsals, verse and rhetoric, theater history, voice, improv, clown, combat, recreation, and Playhouse visits. The official page reported a 5:1 camper-to-residential-staff ratio.
