What Is ASM Materials Camps - Students?
The ASM Materials Education Foundation's student camps introduce high-school juniors and seniors with strong math and science ability to materials science and engineering through applied, team-based problem solving. Depending on the host, a camp can be residential, commuter, or a one-day-or-shorter mini-camp. Students may conduct forensic-engineering investigations, analyze failure causes, use specialized laboratory equipment, complete demonstrations and experiments, tour facilities, work with professional materials mentors, and explore education and career pathways.
ASM says the camp itself is free to attendees. The flagship Eisenman camp at ASM headquarters also included meals and hotel lodging at no charge in 2026; travel and non-Eisenman lodging are not universally promised. The completed 2026 schedule included sites across the United States, Canada, France, and India, with dated camps from May through July and other sites lacking public dates. Deadlines varied by location.
