# ASM Materials Camp - Students ASM Materials Camps are hands-on summer camps in materials science and engineering run by the ASM Materials Education Foundation, the education arm of ASM International, the professional society for materials scientists and engineers. Camps are hosted at universities and industry sites around the country and are offered at no cost to attendees thanks to foundation and local-chapter funding - the flagship Eisenman Materials Camp even covers meals and hotel lodging. ## What You'll Do - Solve team-based, real-world materials failure and design problems with practicing engineers and professors - Work hands-on with metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites in university laboratories - Use professional equipment for heat treating, metallography, mechanical testing, and microscopy - Explore how materials science connects aerospace, biomedical, energy, and manufacturing careers - Attend residential, commuter, or one-day mini-camp formats depending on the site ## Who Should Apply High school juniors and seniors who show strong abilities in math and science and want an engineering field most schools never teach. Applications typically require a transcript and up to two recommendation letters; the 2026 Eisenman Camp deadline was March 1, 2026, and site applications generally reopen in winter for the following summer. ## Outcomes Campers finish with a working introduction to the materials science and engineering major, mentoring relationships with ASM member engineers, and a distinctive, zero-cost STEM credential that pairs naturally with the foundation's university scholarship pathways.
