# Engineering Academy Engineering Academy is a free introductory summer program from the University of Washington College of Engineering, designed for students who are curious about engineering and seeking their first broad exposure to the field. The 2026 session runs Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, with in-person programming from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day on the UW Seattle campus. ## What You'll Do - Engage in hands-on engineering design challenges each day for a week - Connect with UW engineering students and faculty - Tour the University of Washington campus and engineering facilities - Explore how different engineering disciplines make an impact in local communities - Compare pathways into majors like mechanical, electrical, civil, and bioengineering ## Who Should Apply Students who are high school sophomores or juniors during the current academic year and want a low-stakes, exploratory introduction to engineering. No prior experience is required, and the program is free of cost to participants thanks to donor support. Participants arrange their own daily transportation to campus. Applications for 2026 closed in spring; the 2027 application opens in March. ## Outcomes Participants finish the week with a clearer picture of what engineers actually do, direct connections to UW engineering students and faculty, exposure to multiple engineering disciplines, and a stronger foundation for choosing high school courses and college majors in STEM.
