What Is The Dialectic: Philosophy Summer Camp?
The Dialectic is an ASU day camp that treats philosophy as a practical discipline for hard public and personal questions. The 2026 theme, Building Better Communities, explored polarization, civic virtue, echo chambers, compassion and disagreement through ethics, aesthetics, political philosophy and wellbeing. Students worked primarily with philosophy graduate students and met faculty guest lecturers while experiencing the Tempe campus.
The completed 2026 camp ran June 1-5 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. It welcomed graduating eighth graders and students who had been in grades 9-12 during 2025-26. Tuition was $400 and included instruction, lunches, materials and facilities. A small number of need-based scholarships were available only by contacting the organiser before registration. Registration is closed and the next topic, dates, fee and aid are not announced.
