What Is Oakland University Philosophy Camp?
Oakland University Philosophy Camp is a five-day, four-night residential program for high-school students who want to ask difficult questions and develop critical-thinking and reasoning skills. Philosophy professors from Oakland and other universities lead lectures, discussions, and small-group activities, while campers also join recreation and evening community programming. The annual theme structures the week; in 2026, Fact and Fiction examined how art, journalism, podcasts, and social media relate to truth and responsibility.
Applicants are generally ages 13-18 and studying at high-school level, including students about to enter or just finishing high school. The completed July 13-17, 2026 camp cost $675 including housing, meals, snacks, and activities, with need-based scholarships and several discounts.
