What Is Cornell Math Explorers' Club?
Cornell's Math Explorers' Club is an active Department of Mathematics outreach program for students in grades 8-12. Graduate students lead sequences of interactive lessons with facilitation from undergraduates and postdoctoral researchers. The modules introduce advanced mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies beyond the standard school curriculum, with cooperative questioning, definition-building, and problem solving. Students are encouraged to communicate what they learned through a poster or presentation.
The Fall 2026 module, “What is a (Real) Number?”, meets November 7 and 14, Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon, in 532 Malott Hall, 212 Garden Avenue, Ithaca. The registration deadline is November 1, 2026; no clock or timezone is published. The live registration form names both November 2026 sessions and asks for student/school, parent or guardian contact, attendance, current math class, teacher name, and a brief explanation of the student’s interest.
