Math Circles of Chicago

# Math Circles of Chicago Math Circles of Chicago (MC2) runs math enrichment across the city for students in grades 3-12, deliberately placed in neighborhoods rather than concentrated on one campus. Hubs meet at Austin College & Career Academy, Back of the Yards High School, the University of Chicago's Eckhart Hall, Lane Tech, Payton, Chicago State University, and FORA in West Ridge, typically two out of every three weeks during the academic year. ## What You'll Do - Join a level-appropriate circle - the middle and high school groups run from Brahmagupta (7th-8th) through Cantor (9th-10th, Algebra 1 or Geometry) and Kovalevsky (students who have completed high school geometry) - Explore problems and topics outside the school curriculum with volunteer mathematicians and educators - Present at the MC2 Symposium, open to students in grades 5-12 - Use College Pathways, the organization's grades 9-12 track, for guidance on next steps - Attend summer camps for rising 6th-12th graders ## Who Should Apply Chicago-area students in grades 6-12 (MC2 also serves grades 3-5). Registration runs in two phases - a lottery followed by open enrollment for remaining spots - and "Students in public schools in Chicago fill spots first." Fees are tiered: free tuition for families at schools with 75%+ lower-income students or with household income under $70,000, half price between $70,000 and $100,000. ## Outcomes MC2 gives Chicago students a sustained, low-cost mathematical community across the whole K-12 arc, with a clear path from neighborhood circles into presenting original work and planning for college mathematics.
