What Is International Economics Olympiad National?
The International Economics Olympiad (IEO) is a global high-school economics, finance, and business competition, and ordinary students enter through the recognized national or territorial selection named in the official country directory. Each national organizer sets its own stages, registration method, student deadline, eligibility, language, format, fee, syllabus, and awards. Students should find their jurisdiction on the IEO country page and use that organizer's current official instructions; an event that merely uses “Economics Olympiad” in its name is not automatically the authorized IEO pathway.
Selected national teams normally contain no more than five contestants. At the international event, students complete a 40-question economics/finance multiple-choice test, five open questions (four graded by the contestant's choice), and an English-language team business-case presentation before a jury. The international regulations normally place the final onsite in July or August, with online/hybrid changes possible in exceptional circumstances.
