# GrubStreet Teen Summer Writing Fellowship The Teen Summer Writing Fellowship is an intensive three-week program at GrubStreet, one of the country's leading independent creative writing centers, based in Boston's Seaport. Fellows work with published authors on original prose and poetry, and are paid a stipend rather than paying tuition. In 2026 the fellowship runs Mondays-Fridays, July 20 to August 7, 10:30 am-3:30 pm, with an optional fourth week (August 17-21) to edit the YAWP teen anthology. ## What You'll Do - Generate new work across genres with established writers as instructors - Workshop peers' writing and learn feedback craft - Meet literary agents and editors, and hear from visiting contemporary authors - Take field trips to inspiring Boston locations and read at Friday open mics - Perform at a culminating showcase and receive an $800 stipend on completion ## Who Should Apply Students entering grades 9-12 who live and attend school in Suffolk, Norfolk, Middlesex, Essex, or Plymouth counties in Massachusetts; Boston residents are prioritized. Applications typically open in winter and closed March 16 in 2026. ## Outcomes Fellows finish with a portfolio of new writing, publication in the program anthology, industry exposure rare for high schoolers, a public performance credit, and an $800 stipend.
