# Sadie Nash Summer Institute The Sadie Nash Leadership Project runs its Summer Institute for young women and gender-expansive high school students in New York City and Newark, New Jersey. Over six weeks, participants - called Nashers - take courses in leadership, social justice, and organizing taught by practitioners, and build a project or campaign of their own. There are no academic requirements and no cost to participate; students are paid a stipend for attending. ## What You'll Do - Attend classes Mondays through Thursdays, 10 am to 4 pm, for six weeks at a site in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, or Newark - Take courses in leadership development, social justice, history, and organizing - Work with peers on an issue-based project rooted in your own community - Practice facilitation, public speaking, and campaign planning - Join a long-running alumni community with year-round programming ## Who Should Apply The Summer Institute is open to "young women and gender-expansive youth who are enrolled in high school" who live in New York City or Newark. There are no academic prerequisites and no requirement of prior participation. Selection includes an application followed by group interviews. ## Outcomes Participants "are eligible to receive a stipend of $450" based on attendance, and leave with a completed community project, formal training in organizing and facilitation, and access to Sadie Nash's alumni and year-round leadership programming.
