# Future Latino Leaders Law Camp The Hispanic National Bar Foundation runs the Future Latino Leaders Law Camp each summer in Washington, DC to widen the pipeline of Hispanic students entering the legal profession. Selected high schoolers spend a week on a residential program of legal instruction, professional development, and direct contact with the people who run the American legal system. ## What You'll Do - Take substantive legal instruction sessions taught by attorneys and law faculty - Prepare and argue a mock trial as the capstone exercise of the week - Meet with lawyers, judges, and officials of the United States government in Washington, DC - Learn concrete paths into legal careers, including college and law school admissions - Build a network with Latino law students, practitioners, and camp counselors ## Who Should Apply Students in grades 9-12 who have demonstrated an interest in law, community service, and leadership development. The application requires a non-refundable $50 fee unless a waiver is granted, and applicants arrange their own travel unless awarded a need-based travel scholarship. ## Outcomes The HNBF covers program costs for admitted students, so participants leave with a residential DC legal experience, a mock trial under their belt, and a mentor network inside the Hispanic National Bar Association - useful footing for pre-law majors and later law school applications.
