# Summer Pre-Law Academy The University of Baltimore School of Law hosts the Summer Pre-Law Academy each July to introduce Baltimore City high school students to law school, the legal profession, and the undergraduate admissions process. The program is free, runs on the downtown law campus, and is deliberately small - a maximum of 20 participants. ## What You'll Do - Attend daily sessions from 8:30am to 2pm at the law school on North Charles Street - Prepare and argue a case in a mock trial competition - Sit in on an attorney panel discussion about legal careers and paths into the profession - Work through college and career planning, including undergraduate admissions information - Tour the campus and network with law school alumni ## Who Should Apply Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors attending Baltimore City Schools. The application asks for a 200-400 word essay explaining the applicant's interest in the academy. Because enrollment is capped at 20, admission is competitive. ## Outcomes Participants finish with courtroom experience, a written admissions essay, direct contact with law school admissions staff and practicing attorneys, and a clearer view of what an undergraduate pre-law track looks like. Lunch is provided and the program is free to all participants.
